Alimony Pendente Lite

Alimony pendente lite is similar to spousal support. They are both orders made before a divorce is final.

The differences are...

Spousal support is paid after the parties separate but before the divorce is final. It may even be ordered before a divorce action is even filed.

Alimony pendente lite is a temporary order made after the divorce action is filed but before the divorce is final.

Both spousal support and alimony pendente lite are terminated when the divorce becomes final.

You cannot receive alimony pendente lite and spousal support at the same time. The calculation for alimony pendente lite is the same as the calculation for spousal support.

Attorney Stephen Barcavage can assist you in either filing for Alimony pendente lite or assisting you if your spouse has filed for APL.
